Um incêndio na boate Kiss, no Sul do Brasil, causou a morte de mais de 200 pessoas, segundo informou a polícia neste domingo.
A tragédia teve início por volta da 2h00, na cidade de Santa Maria, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul.

Há registros de ao menos dois incêndios ocorridos em boates de outros países: no Jromaia Lóshad (O Cavalo Manco), em Perm, na Rússia, em 2009, e na boate Republica de Cromagnon, em 2004, em Buenos Aires, Argentina (vide link abaixo).
A nightclub fire in southern Brazil has left more than 200 people dead, according to a police report issued on Sunday.
The tragedy took place in a night in the city of Santa Maria (see map above), in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
The victims had suffocated or been trampled, and the death toll is likely to be above 220 people, while as many as 400 revellers were in Kiss nightclub when the fire broke out.
The blaze started at around 2:00am (local time — UT minus three hrs) when a member of the band or its production team ignited a flare, which then set fire to the ceiling.
