Bang Neow

Um devoto do templo chinês Bang Neow  participa de uma procissão durante o festival anual  vegetariano, em Phuket, na Tailândia. 


No festival,a comunidade chinesa local, com a presença de médiuns e devotos cheios de piercings, especialmente no rosto,acredita que a prática de vegetarianismo radical, com a abstinência de consumo de carne e  vários tipos de estimulantes durante o nono mês lunar do calendário chinês lhes proporciona saúde e paz de espírito. 

A devotee of the Chinese Bang Neow Shrine takes a part in procession during the annual vegetarian festival through central Phuket, Thailand. 

The festival, featuring face-piercing, spirit mediums, and strict vegetarianism celebrates the local Chinese community's belief that abstinence from meat and various stimulants during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar will help them obtain good health and peace of mind.
