Neste mês, salvo contratempos, o início das operações do LHC, o Grande Colisor de Hádrons, que, em resumo, poderá nos levar a importantes descobertas sobre a origem e a natureza da matéria, entre outras coisas. Fico perplexo com a quantidade de novidades que vejo e trago para este blogue todos os dias, semanas, meses. Mas também não me surpreendo com o comportamento humano que, ao contrário da ciência, parece retroceder, cada vez mais bárbaro, individualista, inconseqüente e interesseiro. Pois é, fica a questão: de que adianta tanto progresso, se a natureza humana não se apura?

I sometimes feel astonished by the amount of news I find and bring to this blog every single day, month after month. But I also don't feel surprised by human behaviour, that, instead, seems to run backwards, each day more barbarian, selfish, inconsequent and individualist. So, the question that remains is: what's the use of so much progress, if human nature doesn't refine itself?
