Você reconhece essa constelação? Trata-se de Orion, sobre as Terras Altas Centrais da Bohemia, na Republica Checa, um dos mais facilmente identificaveis agrupamentos estelares do firmamento, e um icone familiar à humanidade por mais de 30.000 anos. Orion vem apresentando o mesmo visula durante esse tempo, e assim deverá permanecer por muito milhares de anos à frente. 

A prominente Orion está bem no alto do do céu ao pôr-do-sol nesta epoca do ano, um recorrente simbolo do (na modernidade) inverno no hemisferio norte da Terra, e do verão, no sul. Esta foto é uma composição de mais de trinta imagens obtidas a partir da mesma localidade, durante a mesma noite, no mes passado. 

Abaixo e ligeiramente à esquerda do cinto de três estrelas de Orion situa-se a Nebulosa de Orion, enquanto quatro das brilhantes estrelas ao redor do cinturão são, em sentido horario, Siria (à extrema esquersa, azul), Betelgeuse (no alto, laranja, incomumente esmaecida), Aldebaran (Extrema direita), e Rigel (abaixo). À medida em que as proximas semanas vão passando, Orion irá se pôr cada vez mais cedo.

Do you recognize this constellation? Setting past the Central Bohemian Highlands in the Czech Republic is Orion, one of the most identifiable star groupings on the sky and an icon familiar to humanity for over 30,000 years. Orion has looked pretty much the same during this time and should continue to look the same for many thousands of years into the future. 

Prominent Orion is high in the sky at sunset this time of year, a recurring sign of (modern) winter in Earth's northern hemisphere and summer in the south. The featured picture is a composite of over thirty images taken from the same location and during the same night last month. 

Below and slightly to the left of Orion's three-star belt is the Orion Nebula, while four of the bright stars surrounding the belt are, clockwise, Sirius (far left, blue), Betelgeuse (top, orange, unusually faint), Aldebaran (far right), and Rigel (below). As future weeks progress, Orion will set increasingly earlier.
