A Harvest Moon | Uma Lua de colheita

Famosa em festivais, na historia e na musica, a Lua cheia mais conhecida é a Lua da Colheita. Para os habitantes do hemisferio norte, esse é um nome tradicional da Lua cehia mais próxima do equinocio de setembro. 

Na maioria das zonas de horário local da America do Norte a Lua da Colheita deste anos nascerá oficialmente nesta sexta-feira, 13 de setembro. Na verdade, entretanto, a mesma Lua da Colheita irá nascer em 14 de setembro em boa parte do planeta. 

Evidentemente, a Lua parecerá quase cheia nos dias próximos. Não obstante qual seja a zona de tempo local, a Lua da Colheita, assim como qualquer outra Lua cheia, irá nascer bem em oposição ao Sol poente. 

Proximo ao horizonte, a Ilusão Lunar poderá fazê-la parecer maior e mais brilhante para os observadores, mas esta Lua da Colheita estará próxima ao apogeu lunar. Trata-se do ponto mais próximo em sua orbita, o que a tornou a mais distante e, portanto, a menor Lua cheia do ano. 

Em 15 de agosto, numa plantação de trigo sendo colhida na região central sul da França  fotografou-se também esta cena de uma luz sobre a colheita, com a Lua cheia brilhando  em belas nuvens iridescentes ao pôr-do-sol.

Famed in festival, story, and song the best known full moon is the Harvest Moon. For northern hemisphere dwellers that's a traditional name of the closest full moon to the September equinox. 

In most North America time zones this year's Harvest Moon will officially rise on Friday, September 13. In fact the same Harvest Moon will rise on September 14 for much of the planet though. 

Of course the Moon will look almost full in the surrounding days. Regardless of your time zone the Harvest Moon, like any other full moon, will rise just opposite the setting Sun. 

Near the horizon, the Moon Illusion might make it appear bigger and brighter to you but this Harvest Moon will be near lunar apogee. 

That's the closest point in its orbit, making it the most distant, and so the smallest, full moon of the year. On August 15 a wheat field harvested in south central France made this a harvest moon scene too, the full moon shining on with beautiful iridescent clouds at sunset.
