A atividade vulcanica na grande ilha do Havaí aumentou desde que esta paisagem celeste de uma noite havaiana foi fotografada, no começo deste ano. Recentes aberturas e fluxos de lava estão localizados cerca de 30 quilometros a leste, a direção da fumaça e vapor que sopram na vista panoramica da caldeira Kilauea com a cratera Halemaumau fotografados no Parque Nacional de Vulcões. Ainda, neste ano Jupiter brilha no ceu de final de primavera e começo de verão.
Bem alto ao sul está o mais facilmente visivel e intenso farol celestial do cenário, onde o bulbo central da Via Lactea parece elevar-se acima de vapores e nuvens. A amarelada Antares é a estrela brilhante proxima ao final dos rios de poeira escuros vistos em direção ao centro de nossa galaxia. Proximas ao horizonte, as estrelas Alfa e Beta Centauri e o compacto Cruzeiro do Sul brilham através da quase muito brilhante poeira vulcanica.

Volcanic activity on the Big Island of Hawaii has increased since this Hawaiian night skyscape was recorded earlier this year. Recent vents and lava flows are about 30 kilometers to the east, the direction of the blowing smoke and steam in the panoramic view of the Kilauea caldera with Halemaumau crater taken from Volcanoes National Park.
Still, this year Jupiter is bright in late spring to early summer skies. High in the south it is easily the brightest celestial beacon in the scene where the central bulge of the Milky Way seems to rise above vapors and clouds. Yellowish Antares is the bright star near the end of the dark rivers of dust seen toward the center of our galaxy. Near the horizon, stars Alpha and Beta Centauri and the compact Southern Cross shine through the almost too bright volcanic smoke.
