Tempestades de trovão quase estragaram essa visão da espetacular eclipse total total lunar de 15 de junho de 2011. Entretanto, as nuvens de tempestade se dividiram por 10 minutos durante a fase de eclipse total, e os relâmpagos contribuíram para aquele céu impressionante.
Captada em uma exposição de 30 segundos, a cena também inspirou um dos mais memoráveis títulos (graças ao astrofotógrafo). Certamente, a referência ao relâmpago claramente faz sentido, e a cena sombra da escura eclipse lunas foi amplamente vista em vários locais da Terra, como Europa, África, Ásia e Austrália.
A foto em si, no entanto, foi tirada na ilha grega de Ikaria, em Pezi. Aquela área é chamada "o planeta dos bodes" devido ao terreno acidentado e às rochas de aparência estranha.

Thunderstorms almost spoiled this view of the spectacular 2011 June 15 total lunar eclipse. Instead, storm clouds parted for 10 minutes during the total eclipse phase and lightning bolts contributed to the dramatic sky.
Captured with a 30-second exposure the scene also inspired one of the more memorable titles (thanks to the astrophotographer). Of course, the lightning reference clearly makes sense, and the shadow play of the dark lunar eclipse was widely viewed across planet Earth in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
The picture itself, however, was shot from the Greek island of Ikaria at Pezi. That area is known as "the planet of the goats" because of the rough terrain and strange looking rocks.
