Lunar LOVE | LOVE Lunar

Uma busca mais criativa feita por um grupo de astronomos amadores no municipio de Ehime da Ilha Shikoku, no Japão, encontrou quatro L-O-V-E lunares. O segredo deles foi um exame desta nitida imagem da Lua em quarto crescente. 

Para descobrir por si proprio, voce terá de observar atentamente detalhes da sombra e luz ao longo da linha do terminador, que divide a noite e o dia lunares, criada pelo contraste de fundos de crateras sombreados, com paredes e cumes iluminados pela luz solar, a letra V não é tão dificil de encontrar proxima ao centro da imagem. 

As letras L e E já são um pouco mais dificeis, mas podem ser teased out of shadow and light along the terminator at the bottom. É claro que, na superficie lunas cheia de crateras,a letra O é fácil ... . 

Observadores lunares no planeta terra deveriam entender que, assim como o famoso X lunar, também visivel aqui, essas letras lunares são passageiras, e só aparecem ao longo do terminador nas horas ao redor fase de quarto crescente da Lua. Portanto, seua proxima oportunidade de ver o L-O-V-E lunar é o quarto crescente de 15 de novembro.

A more creative search by a group of amateur astronomers in the Ehime Prefecture of Shikoku Island, Japan has found lunar L-O-V-E. Their secret was an examination of this sharp image of the First Quarter Moon. 

To discover it for yourself you'll need to look closely at details of the shadow and light along the terminator, the line between lunar night and day Created by the contrast of shadowed crater floors with sunlit walls and ridges, the letter V is not too hard to find near the center of the image. 

Letters L and E are a bit more challenging though, but can be teased out of shadow and light along the terminator at the bottom. Of course, on the cratered surface of the Moon the O is easy ... . 

Moonwatchers on planet Earth should understand that like the famous lunar X, also seen here, these lunar letters are transient and only appear along the terminator in the hours around the Moon's first quarter phase. So your next chance for lunar L-O-V-E is the first quarter Moon on November 15.
