Você já se viu em meio a uma chuva de meteoros? Se já esteve, então, mais ou menos a cada minuto o céu faiscou com breves clarões de luz. Foi isso que aconteceu com o astrofotógrafo besta imagem, durante a chva de meteoros das Perseidas do ano passado. Durante esta imagem composta de três horas, cerca de 90 Perseidas choveram sobre o Lago Duolun da Mongolia Interior, na China.
Se você rastrear de volta as riscas dos meteoros, irá descobrir que a maioria delas parece se irradiar de uma só constelação — no caso, Perseu. Na verdade, é possivel até mesmo dizer quais meteoros não são Perseidas porque seus rastros são diferentes.
Esta noite promete ser outra boa ocasião para ser pego por uma chuva de meteorosm porque é o auge das Gemínidas. Gemini, o radiante da chuva, deverá nascer logo após o pôr-do-sol, e permanecerá visível durante a maior parte da noite.

Did you ever get caught in a meteor shower? If yes, then every minute or so the sky sparked with fleeting flashes of light. This was the fate of the pictured astrophotographer during last year's Perseids meteor shower. During the featured three-hour image composite, about 90 Perseids rained down above Lake Duolun of Inner Mongolia, China.
If you trace back the meteor streaks, you will find that most of them appear to radiate from a single constellation — in this case Perseus. In fact, you can even tell which meteors are not Perseids because they track differently. Tonight promises to be another good night to get caught in a meteor shower because it is the peak for the Geminids. Gemini, the shower radiant, should rise shortly after sunset and be visible most of the night.
