Em uma eclipse anelar solar, a Lua fica muito distante da Terra para bloquear todo o Sol, deixando-o aparecer parcialmente sobre o disco lunar em um anel de fogo.
Para registrar esse incomum evento solar, um esforçado fotógrafo dirigiu do Arizona até o Novo México para encontrar a vista certa. Após tudo estar preparado, e bem quando o Sol estava se pondo sobre uma cadeia de montanhas distante cerca de 2,5 quilômetros, uma pessoa inadvertidamente caminhou bem para o local da foto.
Embora gratificante para o inesperado elemento humano, o fotógrafo nunca soube a identidade do intruso na silhueta. No entanto, parece que a pessoa está segurando um dispositivo circular que lhe permitiria ter sua própria visão da eclipse.
A foto foi tirada ao pôr-do-sol de 20 de maio de 2012, às 19:36 do horário local, em um parque próximo a Albuquerque, Novo México, EUA. Há poucos dias, outra eclipse anelar solar tornou-se visivel, desta vez ao longo de uma trajetória que cruzou a África, inclusive Madagáscar.

What is this person doing? In 2012 an annular eclipse of the Sun was visible over a narrow path that crossed the northern Pacific Ocean and several western US states. In an annular solar eclipse, the Moon is too far from the Earth to block out the entire Sun, leaving the Sun peeking out over the Moon's disk in a ring of fire.
To capture this unusual solar event, an industrious photographer drove from Arizona to New Mexico to find just the right vista. After setting up and just as the eclipsed Sun was setting over a ridge about 2.5 kilometers away, a person unknowingly walked right into the shot.
Although grateful for the unexpected human element, the photographer never learned the identity of the silhouetted interloper. It appears likely, though, that the person is holding a circular device that would enable them to get their own view of the eclipse.
The shot was taken at sunset on 2012 May 20 at 7:36 pm local time from a park near Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. A few days ago, another annular solar eclipse became visible, this time along a path crossing Africa, including Madagascar.
