Iceberg B-31

O Iceberg  B-31 aparece aqui após ter-se separado de uma fenda Glaciar  Pine Island, na Antártica, nesta foto do Observatório Earth da NASA, divulgada em novembro de de 2013. 

Cientistas estão monitorando o iceberg de tamanho incomumente grande — praticamente seis vezes maior do que a Ilha de Manhattan, em Nova York  —, que se soltou de um glaciar antártico e está indo em direção ao mar aberto, embora para uma região de pouco trânsito de navios.

Scientists are monitoring the unusually large iceberg - roughly six times the size of Manhattan — that broke off from an Antarctic glacier and is heading into the open ocean, although not in an area heavily navigated by ships.
