Supernova 1987A

Esta concepção  artística ilustra a Supernova 1987A, com base em dados reais, com as regiões internas frias dos remanescentes da estrela explodida (em vermelho) onde tremendas quantidades de poeira foram detectas e fotografadas pelo Grande Conjunto Atacama Milímetro/submilímetro (ALMA). 

Esta região interna é contrastada com o envoltório externo (laços brancos  e círculos azuis), onde a onda da explosão da supernova  colide com o envoltório de gás ejetado da estrela antes de sua potente detonação. O inserto é uma imagem da supernova obtida com o  Telescópio Espacial Hubble.

An artist's illustration shows Supernova 1987A, based on real data with the cold, inner regions of the exploded star's remnants (in red) where tremendous amounts of dust were detected and imaged by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). 
This inner region is contrasted with the outer shell (lacy white and blue circles), where the blast wave from the supernova is colliding with the envelope of gas ejected from the star prior to its powerful detonation. Inset is an image from the Hubble Space Telescope of the supernova.
