A Grande Nuvem de Magalhães em Ultravioleta


Onde estão as estrelas mais quentes nas galáxias mais próximas? Para ajudar a descobri-las, a NASA designou seu satélite oerbital terrestre Swift para compilar um mosaico com múltiplas imagens da vizinha galáxia Grande Nuvem de Magalhães (LMC) em luz ultravioleta. 

A imagem acima mostra onde estão as estrelas recentemente formadas na LMC, já que as maiores dessas jovens estrelas brilham forte em azul e ultravioleta



Where are the hottest stars in the nearest galaxies? To help find out, NASA commissioned its Earth-orbiting Swift satellite to compile a multi-image mosaic of the neighboring Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) galaxy in ultraviolet light. 

The above image shows where recently formed stars occur in the LMC, as the most massive of these young stars shine brightly in blue and ultraviolet
