Ethiopian B-737 falls on Mediterranean / Boeing 737 cai no Mediterrâneo

Umas 85 pessoas devem ter morrido na queda de um Boeing 737 da Ethiopian Airlines no Mar Mediterrâneo logo após decolar de Beirute, Líbano.

O Boeing 737 desapareceu da tela do radar logo após a decolagem, perdendo contato 45 minutos após levantar voo, na direção sudoeste, rumo a Adis Abeba, Etiópia.

Some 85 people are feared dead after an Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed into the Mediterranean sea shortly after taking off from Beirut airport, Lebanon.

The plane, said to be a Boeing 737, disappeared off the radar shortly after takeoff.

An airline official said contact was lost about 45 minutes after the early morning departure.

According to the Ethiopian Airlines website, the flight from Beirut was bound for Addis Ababa.

It had been scheduled to land at Addis Ababa at 7:50am local time.

According to one source, residents on the coast saw a plane on fire crashing.

Rescuers were trying to reach the plane to determine whether there were any survivors.
