Este vídeo esxtraordinário pode parecer ter sido feito no Havaí ou Austrália, mas aí é que está: foi rodado na costa da Irlanda, num inverno rigoroso, filmado por três jovens empenhados na missão de encontrar a onda perfeita.

O surfista profissional de St. Ives Tom Lowe e os amigos Fregal Smith e Mickey Smith passaram os últimos meses encarando condições extremas na selvagem costa oeste da Irlanda, fazendo um filme novo e impressionante filme sobre surf. Eles se feriram, quase de afogaram e encontraram o tipo de clima que Lowe descreve como "simplesmente estúpido".

Em um momento de parar a respiração, Lowe deve de mergulhar para soltar um surfista enroscado em uma prancha de surf arrebentada. Em outro, ele sofreu a dor inimaginável de um ombro deslocado quando uma imensa "torre" de 15 pés ( 5 metros) de água encaracolada despencou sobre ele. Tudo isso, durante uma quase transcendental procura por surfar onde outros simplesmente não se atrevem a ir.

For surf lovers, this is the film: Powers of Three This extraordinary video may look like it was shot in Hawaii or Australia, but here's the shock. It was taken off the coast of Ireland in hard winter, filmed by three young men bent on a mission to find the perfect wave.

St Ives-based pro-surfer Tom Lowe and friends Fergal Smith and Mickey Smith have spent the past few months squaring up to vicious conditions on Ireland's wild west coast, filming a stunning new surf movie. They were injured, almost drowned and encountered the kind of bitter weather that Lowe describes as "just stupid".

In one heart-stopping moment Lowe was forced to dive and release a trapped surfer roped to a crushed board. In another, he suffered the unimaginable pain of a dislocated shoulder when an immense, 15ft tower of curling water collapsed on top of him. All this, during an almost transcendental quest to surf where others simply do not go.
