Vídeo: O IRIS detecta sua maior labareda solar


Em 28 de janeiro de 2014, o Espectrógrafo de Imageamento de Interface de Região da NASA (IRIS), observou sua mais forte labareda  solar desde o seu lançamento, no começo de 2013. 

Labaredas solares são explosões de raios X e luz que se espalham pelo espaço, porém os cientistas ainda não conhecem a fundo os detalhes do mecanismo que as faz surgir. 

O IRIS estuda a camada da atmosfera solar chamada cromosfera, que é a chave que regula o fluxo de  energia e  matéria enquanto viajam da superfície do Sol para o espaço.




On Jan. 28, 2014, NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph, or IRIS, witnessed its strongest solar flare since it launched in the summer of 2013. 

Solar flares are bursts of x-rays and light that stream out into space, but scientists don't yet know the fine details of what sets them off. 

IRIS studies the layer of the sun’s atmosphere called the chromosphere that is key to regulating the flow of energy and material as they travel from the sun's surface out into space.
