O Chifre da África | Horn of Africa

O satélite Envisat foi lançado há 10 anos. Esta imagem do Envisat mostrando o Chifre da África inclui partes da Etiópia, Eritreia, Djibuti e, a nordeste, atravessando o Mar Vermelho, uma parte da costa oeste do Yemen. 

A região de coloração mais clara é conhecida como do Triângulo Distante, e inclui o Deserto Danakil Desert. Mais a oeste, pode-se ver o Lago Tana, com um formato meio assemelhado a um coração.

Envisat was launched 10 years ago. This Envisat image of the Horn of Africa shows parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and, to the north-east across the Red Sea, a portion of Yemen’s west coast. 


The lighter-coloured area to the east is known as the Afar Triangle and includes the Danakil Desert. Further west we can see the somewhat heart-shaped Lake Tana.
