A gravação captada da fonia de um piloto da Southwest Airlines  baseado em Houston, Texas, EUA, cujo nome a empresa se recusa a divulgar, conversando com o primeiro oficial na cabine de comando sobre sua aparente falta de interesse romântico em qualquer um da  "contínua corrente de gays grannies e grandes" que ele diz serem comissários de voo da companhia. "Onze (expletivo, exclamatório) muito ultrajantes (expletivo, exlamatório) (expletivo, exclamatório) (expletivo) homossexuais, velhos, velhas, e uma vovó," disse o piloto, sem saber que o microfone estava ligado, criticando a falta de membros do sexo oposto qualificados (para suas preferências sexuais) a bordo de um voo recente.

"Onze. Quer dizer, pense na desiguldade disso." Ele depois disse que Houston era "fácil uma das bases com gente mais feia," acrescentando que, "quer dizer, são todos esses (expletivo) velhos e avós, e talvez um punhado de gatinhas bonitas." O piloto foi  inicialmente suspenso, sem remuneração, após o incidente, em 25 de março, embora representantes da Southwest não tenham dito por quanto tempo.

O piloto misterioso foi então readmitido em serviço após  fazer um curso sobre diversidade. Arguidoa comentar o assunto, o porta-voz da companhia, Brandy King, disse: "Trata-se de assunto interno, tratado diretamente com o funcionário, e nós não comentamos publicamente assuntos relacionados a empregados."


 The recording captured the Houston-based Southwest Airlines pilot, whom the company would not identify, talking with the first officer in the cockpit about his apparent lack of romantic interest in any of the "continuous stream of gays and grannies and grandes" that he said are flight attendants for the airline. "Eleven (expletive) over-the-top (expletive) (expletive) (expletive) homosexuals and a granny," the pilot can be heard saying, criticising the lack of eligible members of the opposite sex aboard a recent flight. "Eleven. I mean, think of the odds of that."

He later said Houston was "easily one of the ugliest bases," adding that, "I mean, it's all these (expletive) old dudes and grannies, and there's like maybe a handful of cute chicks." The pilot was initially suspended without pay after the incident on March 25, although Southwest representatives would not say for how long.

The mystery pilot has since been allowed to return to work after completing a course on diversity. Asked to comment on the matter, airline spokeswoman Brandy King said: "That is an internal issue that we've dealt with directly with that employee, and we don't discuss employee matters publicly."
