"O motivo de Júpiter ter aparentemente "perdido" este cinturão é que os usuais ventos subsidentes que são secos e mantêm aquela região clara e sem nuvens desapareceram," disse Glenn Orton, do Laboratório de Propulsão a Jato da Nasa, em Pasadena, Califórnia, EUA.

composite of three colour images taken on November 18 by the Gemini North
telescope in Hawaii.
The image shows a belt that had previously vanished in
Jupiter's atmosphere, but that is now reappearing.
"The reason Jupiter seemed to
'lose' this band is that the usual downwelling winds that are dry and keep the
region clear of clouds died down," said Glenn Orton, of NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.
