Sexta-feira passada, um agrupamento de três brilhantes planetas e a Lua conferiram um encanto especial ao céu do amanhecer. Com Mercúrio, Vênus, Saturno, e uma estreita lua crescente próxima ao horizonte leste, na luz vaga do alvorecer, esta foto da bela conjunção astral foi feita nas proximidades de Noerdlingen, Alemanha. Estes planetas vagueiam apartados e Mercúrio, está afundando na direção do Sol nascente. Mas se você percorrer o restante do firmamento esta semana, deverá poder acrescentar Júpiter e marte à sua lista de planetas visíveis, com Marte elevando-se por volta de meia-noite, e Júpiter brilhando forte após o pôr do Sol. Na verdade, se você quiser obter uma visão de Júpiter melhor que a tida por Galileu, deverá consultar as atividades e eventos do Ano International da Astronomia 2009 durantes essas próximas Noites Galileanas (Outubro 22-24).
Last Friday, a gathering of three bright planets and the Moon graced the morning sky. With Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and a narrow lunar crescent close to the eastern horizon in the dawn twilight, this picture of the beautiful conjunction was recorded near Noerdlingen, Germany.
These planets are wandering apart now and Mercury is sinking closer toward the rising Sun. But if you also scan the rest of the sky this week you should be able to add Jupiter and Mars to your planet spotting list, with Mars rising around midnight and Jupiter shining brightly after sunset.
